So this happened one day…
What is that strange picture you ask?
Those are rainbow sprinkles all over the floor.
See a few weeks back my kid and her friend were making a "movie" with this thing called cap cut, they were making a story about two squishy unicorns and they wanted the unicorns to cry sprinkles. (of course)
So I said, "sure no problem, use these, just don't make a mess."
Not even 1 minute later, a loud thud and real life salty tears are coming from my kid.
So I went to see what happened and saw the sprinkle picture plus my kid on the floor.
Once I knew my kid was okay, and she knew she was okay, the three of us started laughing. Of course my daughter and her friend said they would clean up the mess but I said, "Wait!" "Don't clean it up yet, the sprinkles are already all over the place. What if you have your unicorns go climb sprinkle mountain or something?" Well of course they loved the idea and created a 13 minute cap cut movie using “sprinkle mountain” that I will spare you all from.
After this incident, I wondered, if my kid hadn't been crying would I have been able to turn this silly mess into something fun and positive? Had it been both my kids and not my kid's friend would I have been able to do the same? I don't know but I do hope so.
Life is messy sometimes, and definitely not always easy but when we are able to see what's important and what matters in the moment we can change our whole experience of messy, silly and sometimes frustrating situations. And create positive memories we can connect our minds back to.
